From May 16 to May 30, 2022, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, together with the United Nations Population Fund and the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, held a series of round tables at the Human Rights Resource Centers operating in the city of Ashgabat and in the velayats on the implementation of the National Action Plan on Gender Equality in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025.
The round tables were organized within the framework of the Activity Plan "Support to Strengthen the System and Mechanisms to Promote Gender Equality" between the Institute and the UNFPA for 2022 and the project plan between the Government of Turkmenistan with the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
Members of the Peoples Council and deputies of the Parliament of the National Council of Turkmenistan, representatives of the governorships of the regions and the city of Ashgabat, the velayat departments of education, health, labor and employment, law enforcement agencies, the Bar Association and public organizations - the Women's Union, trade unions, Magtymguly Youth Organization. International experts from the Gender Section of the OSCE Secretariat also took part in the work of the round tables.
National and international experts, together with the participants, discussed the preparation of a draft periodic National Report to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, as well as the international obligations of Turkmenistan in the field of gender equality.
