TÜRKMENISTANYŇ DÖWLET, HUKUK WE DEMOKRATIÝA INSTITUTY
On February 28, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a conference dedicated to the outcomes of the meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, was attended by heads and representatives of public organizations of the country, faculty and students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
The conference discussed issues related to the successful implementation of the priority tasks defined in the Program of Socio-economic Development of Turkmenistan and Investments in 2024, as well as the Work Plan and activities in the main areas of activity of the Halk Maslahaty, scheduled for implementation this year together with the Mejlis of the country, ministries, state agencies and public organizations.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov stressed that thanks to the efforts of the country’s leadership, the economy of Turkmenistan is developing at an accelerated pace, the quality of life of the population is improving, and the authority of the state and its place in the system of international relations is constantly growing.
Attention was also drawn to the foreign policy initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan put forward at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, in which the initiative to develop a Global Security Strategy plays a key role.
The emphasis was also placed on the implementation of current directions of the country’s foreign policy in the fields of energy, transport, ecology, information security and digitalization.
The conference participants stressed that the main goal of the new strategy adopted by the President of Turkmenistan is to support the country’s economic growth. In this regard, the most important indicator of intensive development is a stable political position and decision-making aimed at achieving the designated goals.
After the main session, the conference continued its work in two panels, dedicated to ensuring gender equality in the country and the implementation of youth policy.
The panel sessions paid special attention to the tasks set by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty at the meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty on strengthening the conditions created for the protection of the legitimate interests of women, as well as the protection and unity of the family and the interests of the younger generation.
