From May 1 to May 16, 2023, a series of seminars on the topic “Harmonization of the legislation of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights with the norms of international law” were held at the Human Rights Information Centers in the velayats and the city of Ashgabat, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 30th anniversary of Vienna Declaration and Program of Action on Human Rights.
The seminars were attended by representatives of a number of ministries, departments, law enforcement agencies, public associations and the media.
During the seminars, the participant presented a collection in the state language "International conventions in the field of human rights" prepared jointly with the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan and the UN Development Program in Turkmenistan. Also, presentations were made on the following topics: Harmonization of national legislation with generally recognized norms of international law in the field of human rights; UNDP cooperation in the field of human rights; main provisions of the UNDP Gender Equality Strategy.
The event was organized as part of the Project “Assistance in the realization of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights for 2021-2025” by the UNDP Representative Office in our country and the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan.
Seminars on this topic were held: May 2 in Mary, May 5 in Dashoguz, May 9 in Lebap, May 12 in Balkan, May 16 in Akhal velayats and the city of Ashgabat.
