On December 11, 2023, on the occasion on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Day of Neutrality, a round table meeting was held, which was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy Turkmenistan. The round table was attended by the members of the Inter-Ministerial Commission on Ensuring Turkmenistan’s Compliance with International Obligations on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
The round table was also attended by the Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR), representatives of United Nations agencies in Turkmenistan and young ambassadors of the SDGs.
In accordance with the agenda, an exchange of views on the work being carried out in neutral Turkmenistan in area of human rights took place. During the forum, the speakers noted that as a result of the unprecedented efforts of President Turkmenistan, the human and civil rights are recognized in Turkmenistan in accordance with the generally accepted norms of international law. In addition, it was noted that the human rights are guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of Turkmenistan, modern digital technologies are being introduced, and examples of achievements in this direction were given.
